Manuel Sans, an electrical contractor contacted RLLD Commercial Lighting for a quote on a large residential construction project in the exclusive west Austin, TX, Zilker park area. The project home was over 40,000 square feet and sat on 20 acres. Every detail of the home was custom, from the facade and columns in the front, to the pool and landscaped pathways in the back. In order to ensure that not one detail of this exquisite project was overlooked at any time of day, the owner requested that the entire property be covered with appropriate, balanced and effective lighting.

Manuel contacted us early in the project in order to draw upon our expertise with regards to the selection of lighting fixtures. We had several conversations with Manuel by phone, in which we learned a bit more about the project, both in terms of timeline as well as the many different type of lighting applications that might be involved. We chose a manufacturer based upon our conversations, which would supply the majority of the fixtures, understanding that minimizing the number of suppliers would ensure a more timely delivery, ease of installation as well as the best possible pricing. Before jumping into the project full-scale, however, we shipped Manuel several sample fixtures as well as some powder coat samples so that he could be sure they would meet the owners needs and taste.

Once the samples were approved, we sent two residential lighting design experts to Austin to walk the property and to come up with more detailed specifications for the projects. Through the course of the day, key architectural and natural features were identified, and appropriate fixtures were noted. We were able to provide a rough estimate at that time of the cost of the entire project. The owner signed off on this and we took a copy of the blueprints back to our offices in Houston to prepare the final order.

While we did not handle the installation directly, Manuel did call upon us to consult during the installation project, and we again sent a lighting expert to the site to stand alongside his crew for a few days while wires were run and fixtures were mounted to ensure that everything was being done in the most efficient manner possible.  In the end, this large residence was truly a work of art.  All of its detailed features were highlighted with exquisite balance and grace, which pleased the owner so much that he continued to return to us for additional fixtures or recommendations about interior and exterior lighting for his property.
