Knowing that contractors have to find the right fixture for the right job to win the bid, our job is to find the right commercial lighting product that will do the job right. In order to accomplish this ambitious goal, we have established some very unique manufacturer agreements that allow us to sell commercial lighting products for a wide number of leading American lighting manufacturers, not just one.

We drop ship commercial site lighting products straight from the factory to your client’s location. This saves time and eliminates parts shortages that often hit distributors who rely upon warehousing for inventory. In addition to supplying contractors with commercial lighting products, we also provide them with adjunct commercial lighting services. The most important of these services is a photometric analysis of a client’s facility. This schematic is created with advanced lighting design software and details necessary foot candle levels, fixture placement locations, recommended number of fixtures, and types of lamps optimal for the client’s lighting requirements.

For certain commercial lighting products, such as parking lot lighting poles and fixtures, we provide turnkey installations on a nationwide basis. Ask an RLLD Commercial Lighting Specialist about these services.

Commercial Site Lighting Design

When developing a site lighting system, the most important thing to keep foremost in mind at all times is lumens per watt efficiency. As energy costs rise to staggering new levels, new laws are now requiring a .15 watt per square foot maximum for outdoor site lights. This makes it necessary to select fixtures that are more efficient and to pay closer attention to site geometry in order to pinpoint the best locations for fixture placement. Regulations have also become much stricter on regulating glare and lighting pollution. Cheaper area lighting fixtures that are unable to shield from glare or to prevent light spillage not only represent an aesthetic disappointment to most clients, but also create a nuisance to neighbors and a possible safety hazard to drivers. By choosing from only specification grade equipment, propose a system that is aesthetically pleasing, economically viable, and fully compliant with regulatory codes.

PARKING LOT LIGHTING
Parking lot lights are critical elements of site lighting and must balance the practical demands of safe lighting levels, aesthetics, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance in order to be truly effective. Higher light poles tend to light larger areas, helping keep the facility in compliance with energy efficiency codes. This must be balanced, however, against any local dark sky laws that limit pole height to a maximum height. As a general rule, it is almost always a better idea to use cut off fixtures designs with tempered glass lenses and reflectors formed from specular facets for commercial outdoor lighting. These luminaires do a better job of keeping glare at a minimum and dispersing light over greater distances, keeping power consumption down while simultaneously increasing the total square footage they illuminate.

ARCHITECTURAL BUILDING LIGHTING
When it comes to lighting building structures themselves, site lighting must accent the building without overpowering its architecture. In order to accomplish this, it is necessary to light only the most significant features of a building rather than the whole building itself. This helps to curb energy expenses and to minimize light pollution. It also creates a secondary effect of accenting that which is truly important about a particular buildings design, and it represents savings as well on the number of luminaires necessary for a truly superior outcome.

A few areas require the special focus of the site lighting designer. The building entrance itself needs vertical light over the vestibule or front door, and any signs on the building itself will require emphasis in order to advertise company branding. Columns require light in order to maintain the buildingʼs sense of balance and proportion, and anything positioned on the rooftop will need its own special light as well.

Light fixture locations and angle of incidence is the key to success when it comes to building exterior lighting. The more you can hide the light source, the more you can create a more aesthetic sense of seemingly sourceless light that makes the structure stand out. Wall packs, canopy lights, roof mounted lights, and a wide selection of sign lights can be installed in strategic locations so as to make them virtually invisible to the casual viewer.

LANDSCAPE SITE LIGHTING
The significance of the landscape to a site lighting theme depends on three things: site geometry itself, amount of actual greenery, and the type of industry. Some businesses such as retail strip centers and shopping malls have very little greenery, so outdoor landscape lighting takes the forms of low voltage step lights or garden lights around trees and flower beds. On the other hand, elaborate corporate campuses with park like areas require a bit more attention and almost always synthesize general landscape lighting with security perimeter lighting. They trick here again is to highlight features of the landscape rather than light then entire area. Pathways and decorative benches can be lit quite cost effectively with fluorescent lighting bollards. Low voltage halogen lights can be used to accent waterways, commemorative statues, ponds, and fountains. Decorative light posts and ornamental fixtures can be used to create historical themes or aesthetic keynotes in key locations without overkill or over spending.

Commercial Gooseneck Outdoor Lights

Gooseneck lights are great fixtures to propose to clients who want functionality combined with aesthetics. These commercial grade lights can be installed both indoors and outdoors to fulfill both aesthetic and practical demands. If your client has a sign near the front entrance of the property, a gooseneck lamp is an excellent way to highlight the company brand and provide continuous advertising 7 nights a week. Homeowners associations also favor goose neck lights because of their sheik design and ability to decoratively highlight ornamentation at the entrance to subdivisions and exclusive neighborhoods. Hotels and restaurants rely upon these commercial lighting fixtures, because advertising their brand is not only subliminal, but also a conscious, deliberate invitation to the public at large.

Of course, one can find a goose neck lamp in a hardware store, or a wholesale parts depot with a catalogue style website. What makes our gooseneck lights significantly superior to these retail or foreign-manufactured products is the quality of materials that goes into making each lamp and the place of origin itself. RLLD commercial decorative lighting sells no imported parts or lighting equipment whatsoever under any circumstances. All products are made in the U.S.A and feature specification grade components, engineering design, and written warranties to guarantee the work. When it comes to lighting their corporate brand or signifying the location of a club, hotel, or restaurant, the last thing your client wants is a fixture that is going to burn out on the night that the VIP shows up. Installing something that is built to last now will save time, money, and possible embarrassment in the future.

Because RLLD architectural lighting designers works in close partnerships with the top lighting fixture manufacturers in the United States, we can supply you with gooseneck lights of any size, style, color, or finish option you need to differentiate your client’s facility and add an extra touch of functional light in key places when so called upon. Our professional staff will listen closely to your requirements and perform a photometric lighting analysis of your client’s site. The report this analysis generates will show what areas on the property and inside the building need specific levels of light, and it will also show us how to achieve those lighting levels with the most cost effective equipment possible. This makes it much easier to choose goose neck lights as complimentary pieces to an overall lighting theme, using them as a supporting aesthetic to an overall “look” that simultaneously performs a specific task that is vital to company image.

Because we sell not only commercial lighting products, but also commercial landscape lighting accessories, we can also provide you with equipment to wall mount a goose neck lamp to the side of a building to illuminate a company’s logo or service. This is a favorite outdoor lighting method among manufacturers who prefer to take a very Spartan approach to decorating factories and warehouses, but nonetheless want what fixtures they do install on and around their building to look attractive and produce a high quality of light. Goose neck lights are made from aluminum and are well suited to this purpose. Their light weight makes them easy to mount on any building surface, and their sturdy construction makes them highly weather resistant.

We can also equip you goose neck lighting that are designed for interior as well as commercial exterior lighting. Many new office buildings often feature rather eclectic interior architecture in the foyer and around the front desk. Many of these settings look ultra-modern and a bit too sophisticated for standard lighting. Wall mounted goose neck fixtures can be substituted for traditional floor and desk lighting near chairs and couches in the waiting areas…giving your client’s clients a new light to read by. They can also replace less sophisticated over the picture lights that have previously been used to light fine artwork and photograph. Halogen bulbs in these lighting not only produce excellent white light with superb color rendering for sign lighting and gateway lighting, but they also render color in paintings and prints exceptionally well, provided the light is properly filtered and controlled.

RLLD Commercial Lighting has actual lighting case studies on a wide variety of industrial, commercial and athletic sports field lighting fixture applications. Commercial Area Lighting Concepts

Lumen per watt efficiency has now become the number one consideration in the design and installation of an area lighting system. As energy costs continue to affect pricing across the board, new laws are now going into effect that will require a .05 watt per square foot maximum for outdoor area lights. This requires you, the contractor, to pay closer attention to area geometry. You now must carefully pinpoint optimal fixture placement locations, and you have to choose fixtures that will deliver more light with less consumption of electricity.

Regulations on glare and light pollution are also getting tougher. Commercial light fixtures made overseas are usually incapable of shielding the eyes from glare or preventing light spillage into surrounding homes and businesses. Only premium, commercial grade area lights that are manufactured here in the United States can give you the assurance of full compliance with dark sky laws and the warranted protection on equipment that guarantees minimized maintenance and replacement costs for your clients.

PARKING LOT LIGHTS
Parking lot lights and lighting poles are two of the most essential elements of area lighting. Commercial parking lot lighting is also heavily regulated in reference to foot candle levels and limitations on the amount of glare produced by the fixtures. High lighting poles tend to illuminate larger areas, helping keep the areaʼs overall lighting in compliance with foot candle requirements and energy efficiency codes. At the same time, you have to be careful not to use light poles that are too tall. Almost every city has dark sky laws that limit pole height to a maximum height. The key to balancing these apparently contradictory legal requirements is to use cut off luminaire designs with tempered glass lenses and reflectors formed from specular facets. These industrial lighting pole fixtures are intended to keep glare levels to a minimum and to disperse light over greater distances. They also keep power consumption at a minimum while simultaneously increasing the total square footage they illuminate.

ARCHITECTURAL BUILDING LIGHTING
When lighting buildings for your client, area lighting fixtures must accent the architecture without overwhelming it. Ideally, they should accentuate only the most important features of a building instead of the entire building itself. This will curb energy expenses and eliminate light pollution, and it will also create a secondary effect of keynoting what is truly important to a particular structure with a less is more approach to luminaire installation.

Installing light fixtures at the ideal angles of incidence will determine the overall effectiveness of building area lighting. You must hide the light source as much as possible to create a well-rounded aesthetic presentation of the building. A wide selection of choices in wattages, luminaire mounts, reflectors, and cut off designs are available to can be install practically any size or type of fixture in strategic locations so as to make them virtually invisible to the casual viewer.

LANDSCAPE AREA LIGHTING
Similar to building lighting, commercial landscape area lighting should be approached with a less is more consideration in mind. They key here again is to illuminate features of the landscape rather than the entire property---which for very large businesses may be dozens, or even hundreds, of acres. Pathways and decorative benches can be lit quite cost effectively with fluorescent lighting bollards. Low voltage halogen fixtures can be very effective in accenting waterways, commemorative statues, ponds, and fountains. Decorative commercial lighting posts with ornamental fixtures are often chose to create historical themes or aesthetic elements in key locations without overkill or over spending.
